Chu University was founded in March 1990. It is located in Hsinchu City, Taiwan, near Hsinchu Science Park – Taiwan's Silicon Valley, which is one of the world's most strategic centers for semiconductor manufacturing and computer technology development.

More than 400 high-tech companies, mainly engaged in the semiconductor, computer, telecommunications and optoelectronics industries, are established in the area. The university has an excellent geographical location, about an hour's drive south of the capital Taipei. The school is also located near Zhunan Science Park and Hsinchu Industrial Park.

CNU currently has more than 191 full-time faculty members, 4,461 students, 22 departments and academic programs, 160 overseas affiliated universities, 72 student clubs, and 57,974 alumni.

According to the monthly Global Views Magazine, it is one of the 20 most international universities in Taiwan. In the latest surveys conducted by the Ministry of Education of Taiwan and various job banks, CNU graduates are shown to have “High Employment Rate, High Salary, and High Enterprise Satisfaction”. These results show that the high-quality education students receive at Chinese universities prepares them well for the real world.
